The Scottish Study Group for the Care
of Diabetes in the Young was set up in the early 1980s. It brings together
paediatricians and adult physicians with a particular interest in childhood and
adolescent diabetes. The group meets twice yearly to discuss research,
interesting cases and to agree ways to improve the care of patients in
Scotland.
The SSG Register of diabetes under 15 years of age is recognised
to be one of the most complete in the world. It is managed for the SSG by Ms Aileen MacKillop-Smith and Professor Norman Waugh.
