Alison is currently on secondment to the KICKOFF study to investigate the impact of accurate carbohydrate counting and intensive insulin management in children.

With a wealth of experience, astounding creativity and uncompromising motivation Alison has served our families with diabetes for more than 25 years.  For her outstanding service within the NHS and to the people of Greater Glasgow she was presented with a “Merit Award” from Greater Glasgow Health Council.
She demonstrates an in-depth knowledge for the condition and has proved to be an invaluable resource not only to her immediate colleagues in the diabetes service but also within the wider community of diabetes care at National and International level.  She is a recognised author of many publications including a book chapter in “Paediatric Dietetics” and her widely acclaimed patient education manual “Food or Life”, which is currently being edited and published for the 3rd time.

Alison has a flare for organisation and strategic management which is essential when operating within one of the largest Paediatric Diabetes Centre’s in Europe.  Despite working within diabetes care for a long time she continues to be driven, always striving for the highest level of diabetes care and provision of service.
